RA Training and Development
Training is an essential part of the RA experience. Attendance at required training and development sessions is mandatory.
RA Orientation
RA Orientation is a 4-hour commitment that allows for RAs to connect with their upcoming team of peers and direct supervisor (the Residential College/Community Coordinator or RCC), participate in activities that pertain to positional responsibilities and soft skills, and learn more about the residential community in which they’ve been placed.
The RA Orientation will take place on a date and time in mid-March to mid-April coordinated by your RCC.
Attendance is mandatory.
Student Leadership Development
Student Leadership Development (SLD) is an extensive two-week training where RAs and RHA members learn more about themselves, the expectations of an RA, and the ins and outs of the position. RAs also learn about campus resources that will help them support residents in a variety of situations.
SLD begins two and a half weeks before Move-In Day. It includes virtual training modules and in-person sessions and is designed to be participatory.
Attendance is mandatory.
Spring Semester Return
RAs return on the Thursday before spring semester classes begin to welcome back residents and greet new spring-admit and transfer residents.
