Residential Experience
First-Year Residential Colleges
Every first-year student begins their USC journey in a Residential College, where they build meaningful connections through events hosted by Resident Assistants and Faculty in Residence. Through everyday interactions with peers, conversations over dinner with faculty, guest lectures, community service opportunities, and access to campus resources in their residence hall, students extend learning beyond the classroom and become active members of their community.
Continuing Residential Colleges
Continuing Residential Colleges provide students with the opportunity to continue their residential experience beyond the first year. Each community is centered around a specific theme that shapes its programming and fosters meaningful interactions among residents, Residential Education staff, and faculty.
As a natural continuation of their residential experience, these themed environments offer a supportive setting for continued growth and success during their time at USC.
Continuing Residential Communities
In addition to the Residential Colleges, continuing students have the opportunity to live in residential communities designed to support their evolving needs and greater independence while fostering a strong sense of connection and belonging. The Office for Residential Education is committed to creating a high-quality living experience for all USC Housing residents, including those in communities for returning students. Through programs and initiatives that reflect the interests and lifestyles of continuing students, these communities promote personal growth, community engagement, and resident well-being. Residents also benefit from the guidance and support of Residential Education staff and student leaders who help create welcoming, inclusive, and connected living environments.
