Faculty in Residence, Birnkrant
Assistant Professor, Clinical Occupational Therapy
Ashley Uyeshiro Simon is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Occupational Therapy in the Mrs. T.H. Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy. She works at the USC Occupational Therapy Faculty Practice, where she helps people make lifestyle changes to their daily habits and routines in order to manage and promote health. She treats patients, teaches an elective class in the Spring to our Master’s students, and teaches students who rotate through her clinic how to treat patients using the Lifestyle Redesign® OT approach that was invented here at USC. She has been a faculty for five years, but did her undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral studies at USC as well.
This will be Ashley’s fourth year as a Faculty in Residence and her first year in Birnkrant. She truly enjoys the opportunity to connect with residents and support their endeavors, both academic and otherwise. As USC is close to downtown, she relishes students’ desires to explore the city and expand their understanding of Los Angeles and the multi-cultural environment around USC. She enjoys programming events that support any form of personal growth and exploration, health and wellness, or just plain fun. She lives with her husband, who also happens to work at USC, and their dog Sophia.
